India, May 1 -- LUCKNOW Gorakhpur and Ballia in the Purvanchal region of UP on Friday recorded their third and fifth lowest maximum temperatures, respectively, in their observational history for the month of May, said the weatherman.

The day temperature in Gorakhpur plunged to 26.4 degrees Celsius, which was 11.7 degrees below normal and Ballia logged 27.5 degrees, which was 9.8 degrees below normal. Orai was the hottest in UP at 41.6 degrees and Jhansi 39.6 degrees.

The previous two lowest maximum temperatures in Gorakhpur in May were 24.5deg on May 21, 2021, 24deg on May 29, 2021. And in Ballia, the previous lowest maximum temperatures were 24.1deg on May 31, 2013, 25.5deg on May 25, 1992, 26.5deg on May 29, 2021, 27.1deg on May 28, 2...
