India, Aug. 27 -- A private training aircraft crashed in Kanpur on Thursday morning, officials said, adding that the pilot died on the spot.

The co-pilot suffered severe injuries in the incident that took place near the Ganga barrage. The aircraft crashed into a field in the city.

The cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained.
