India, Sept. 14 -- Eight Shiv Sena functionaries accused of assaulting doctors and medical staff at a private hospital in Palghar on September 5 surrendered before the Palghar police on Sunday. The driver of Sairaj Patil, one of the eight accused, was also arrested during the day.

Late at night on Sunday, all nine accused were produced before the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) and remanded in police custody till September 16. The court also extended till September 16 the police remand of Shiv Sena city chief Rahul Gharat and 12 govinda troupe members arrested earlier.
