India, April 2 -- The Delhi government plans to plant over 7,000,000 saplings in the Capital in 2026-27 as part of the state Green Action Plan (GAP), said Delhi environment minister Majinder Singh Sirsa on Wednesday.
"Our government is deploying a strategy not just to control pollution but to increase Delhi's green cover," said Sirsa.
He added that the government carried out a similar massive plantation drive with the help of students, citizens, bureaucrats, politicians, judges, dignitaries, ambassadors, among others.
"This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' campaign for a greener India," he said.
