India, June 12 -- One year after the crash of Air India Flight AI-171, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Thursday issued a statement on the progress of its probe, saying the investigation is ongoing and remains focused on a detailed, evidence-based assessment of all factors linked to the accident.

On 12 June 2025, Air India Flight AI-171, a Boeing 787-8 operating from Ahmedabad to London and run by Air India, crashed just about 30 seconds after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft, carrying 242 passengers and crew, lost control shortly after becoming airborne and went down in the Meghani Nagar area near the airport, striking the BJ Medical College hostel complex.
