India, Sept. 15 -- Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took a phone call from US President Donald Trump during a panel discussion on Monday, allowing the Republican to dismiss dangers posed by artificial intelligence (AI) as a "hoax."

Huang was on stage at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles when he received the call from Trump. During the call, Trump criticised the push to slow the pace of AI development as politically motivated or a Chinese scheme.

The AI pushback is "just playing right into the hands of a lot of people that don't want to see it happen. And that could be political people. It could also be China," Trump said on the phone.

Huang agreed with the US President, saying Trump had seen through the complexities of the issue.
