nilgai and jackal die of old age at zoo: officials
New Delhi, March 15 -- A male nilgai and a jackal died at the National Zoological Park in Delhi in the past days, according to zoo officials.
Zoo director Sanjeet Kumar said that the jackal died two days ago, while the nilgai died last week, adding that both the deaths took place due to old age.
Other recent deaths at the zoo include a female antelope, a jackal, and a sangai deer.
The deer, which is a Schedule 1 species under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, died at the facility earlier this month, officials had said.
