India, Nov. 3 -- Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Tuesday resigned from his parliamentary seat and also quit the ruling National Conference (NC) party in Jammu and Kashmir during a massive public gathering in Budgam.

Ruhullah Mehdi, who had campaigned rigorously for the party in the Lok Sabha and assembly elections, was the first to raise his voice against his own government. He blamed it for deviating from the promises made during the polls, especially regarding reservations, Article 370, and statehood.

More details will be added shortly.
