India, Sept. 18 -- The Election Commission has allotted separate names and election symbols to the two rival Trinamool Congress factions led by Mamata Banerjee and Ritabrata Banerjee.

The Ritabrata Banerjee-led faction has been allotted the name Democratic Trinamool Congress and the envelope as its election symbol.

The Mamata Banerjee-led faction has been allotted the name Mamata All India Trinamool Congress and the football player as its election symbol.

The development comes a day after the Election Commission froze the name All India Trinamool Congress and the party's traditional Flowers and Grass symbol, barring both rival factions from using them for the upcoming bypolls.
