India, May 7 -- West Bengal governor R N Ravi has dissolved the state legislative assembly with effect from May 7. Based on the official notification issued in the Kolkata Gazette, the dissolution of the assembly comes after the term of the Trinamool Congress ended.

Earlier this week, the Bharatiya Janata Party recorded a landslide win in the West Bengal assembly election with 207 seats. The outgoing TMC, led by Mamata Banerjee, was reduced to 80 seats.
