Last surviving Maoist central panel member arrested in West Bengal
Kolkata, Sept. 18 -- The last central committee member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), Asim Mandal, was arrested from Polerhat in the eastern fringes of Kolkata on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari praised the West Bengal Police's sharp technical intelligence and exceptional operational competence in arresting 64-year-old Mandal alias Akash, who had been evading law enforcement for over 15 years across inter-state forest belts.
