India, Sept. 8 -- The government faced tough questions on its West Asia Policy during a meeting of the parliamentary consultative committee for external affairs chaired by external affairs minister S Jaishankar on Monday, people familiar with the matter said.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, focused on India's relations with West Asia, Jaishankar said in a social media post. It was also attended by minister of state for external affairs Pabitra Margherita, foreign secretary Vikram Misri and secretary (overseas Indian affairs) Sripriya Ranganathan.
