Jaishankar, Rubio discuss tariffs, trade deal
New Delhi, July 23 -- The proposed India-US trade deal, American tariffs, defence and security figured in talks on Wednesday between US secretary of state Marco Rubio and external affairs minister S Jaishankar on the margins of Asean-related meetings in the Philippines.
Jaishankar said on social media that his meeting with Rubio in Manila focused on areas that are a priority for the India-US comprehensive global strategic partnership, including trade and tariffs, energy, defence abd security, critical minerals and artificial intelligence.
"We also exchanged quick perspectives on regional, global and multilateral issues of mutual interest," he said.
