India, June 9 -- India on Tuesday strongly criticised Pakistan over reports of deadly violence in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), accusing Islamabad of attempting to conceal its failures through a campaign of misinformation and calling on the international community to hold it accountable for alleged human rights abuses.

The remarks came after reports emerged that more than 20 people were killed and several others injured in clashes between protesters and security forces in different parts of PoK.

Addressing a weekly media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Pakistan was resorting to "fake news and videos" to divert attention from the situation in the region.
