India seeks 25-yr fisheries subsidy transition at WTO
New Delhi, March 30 -- Fisheries sector plays a key role in securing India's food security and ensuring livelihood for over nine million fisher families, largely comprising small, traditional, and artisanal fishermen practising sustainable methods, commerce minister Piyush Goyal said at the fourteenth World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC14), demanding a 25-year transition period for developing countries.
