New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- India's per capita CO2 emissions have been among the lowest among most Brics countries, data from the Brics Joint Statistical Publication 2026 showed. The data, available for most countries, barring China, for the period 2016-2022 shows India's per capita CO2 emissions largely hovered around 2,000 kgs/per capita, peaking at 2053.3 kgs in 2022. This was much lower than the per capita emissions of 6,005 kgs for Brazil in 2022, 3,559 kgs in Indonesia in 2022, 3,278 kgs in Russia in 2022 and 6,994 kgs for South Africa. High per capita CO2 emissions usually indicate high usage of fossil fuels.
