Housing sales in top 8 cities dip 6.1% in April-June quarter; Pune and Bengaluru bear the brunt
India, Aug. 23 -- Housing sales across the top eight cities declined 6.1% year-on-year to 91,729 units in the April-June quarter, from 97,674 units a year earlier, according to PropTiger's latest Real Insight Residential report. The trend reflected a seasonal moderation ahead of the monsoon and heightened buyer caution amid the US-Iran war.
The impact was sharper in technology-driven markets such as Pune and Bengaluru, where AI-led workforce restructuring and tech-sector layoffs weighed on housing demand, particularly in the sub- Rs.1 crore segment, the report said.
New launches, however, rose 6% year-on-year to 89,161 units in Q2 2026, even as sales moderated.
