Kolkata, June 11 -- The Calcutta high court on Wednesday granted former state sports minister Aroop Biswas interim protection from coercive police action in connection with the chaos at an event featuring Argentine footballer Lionel Messi last year, while sharply criticising his conduct during the programme. "He is putting his hand around Messi's waist. How can he do this? Is he Messi's childhood friend? Does it not breach the security?" the bench of justice Saugata Bhattacharyya said, adding, "Every resident of Kolkata felt ashamed because of the fiasco.
