India, Aug. 17 -- Hayden Panettiere, the American actor best known for her roles in the television series "Heroes" and "Nashville," has died at the age of 36, US media outlets reported on Sunday. Her father, Alan "Skip" Panettiere, confirmed her death in a statement provided to ABC News.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her - and to the millions who watched her onscreen," her father said.

No cause of death was announced. Panettiere, who would have turned 37 on Friday, is survived by her daughter, whom she shared with former professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
