Ahmedabad, Oct. 7 -- Nine people were arrested on Tuesday after a woman accused them of gang-rape in the name of a "shuddhikaran" (purification) ritual in Surendranagar district of Gujarat, police said. Superintendent of police Premsukh Delu said the woman had left her husband and gone with another man. Her family and community members later caught them and took them for the purported ritual, police said, adding that the incident was recorded and uploaded on Instagram. They said the woman was stripped, tied up and assaulted, while the man was allegedly forced to perform a sexual act on her.
