New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- The Delhi government on Thursday approved a new financial assistance component under the Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana (MKPY), providing eligible young athletes training at government sports centres and stadiums with a monthly incentive of Rs.2,000, officials said. The cabinet decided at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The new "Grassroots Training Support Assistance" aims to help young athletes cover expenses for nutrition, local travel, basic sporting equipment, and medical needs, and to prevent financial constraints from disrupting their training.
