India, April 15 -- Gold prices surged on Wednesday as hopes over the resumption of peace talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, Pakistan, held steady after US President Donald Trump's remarks that fresh round of discussions could take place in the next two days.

The rate of 24 carat gold on Wednesday was at Rs.15470.3 per gram, up by Rs.2336.0. The rate of 22 carat gold is Rs.14170.795000000002 per gram, up by Rs.2139.78.

The rate of 24 carat gold has changed in the last one week by 0.66 per cent, whereas in the last month it has changed by 2.17 per cent.

The price of silver on Wednesday was recorded at Rs.253575.0 per kg, up by Rs.12064.0.
