India, July 7 -- A Ghaziabad police constable was booked on Sunday for allegedly attempting to murder his wife by beating and strangling her last month, police said.

On the basis of a complaint filed by the 32-year-old woman's father, an FIR was registered against the accused under BNS sections 85 (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 109 (attempt to murder) at Vijay Nagar police station on July 5.

DCP (city) Dhawal Jaiswal said no arrest has been made so far, and an investigation is underway.
