India, Sept. 17 -- The board of Tata Sons on Thursday stated it "unanimously" voted to re-appoint N. Chandrasekaran as executive chairman of the group. This re-appointment comes after 'Chandra' announced that he does not wish to seek another term at the top post.

In a statement on Thursday, the board said it received a resolution from Tata Trusts backing the re-appointment of N Chandrasekaran as executive chairman for another five years.

Chandrasekaran assumed office as the Chairman of the Tata Group in 2017, taking over from Ratan Tata.

Last month, N. Chandrasekaran told the board of Tata Sons that he does not wish to apply for another term as chairman of the group.
