India, Sept. 3 -- An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 struck Xizang, Tibet, on Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), according to GFZ, Reuters reported.

This comes days after catastrophic floods struck the Tibet-Nepal border, killing 21 people in Tibet and at least 1,252 people in Nepal. The death toll from the disaster, which struck on August 26, has reached 1,273.

The Nepal catastrophe was triggered by a glacial collapse that sent ice, mud, rocks and fast-moving water surging through a valley in Nepal, wiping out entire settlements in their path.
