Donor heart travels 98km to Delhi via 'green corridor'
New Delhi, April 13 -- A live donor heart was transported across 98 kms from Rohtak to New Delhi in 85 minutes through a green corridor, according to an official statement by Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Okhla.
The green corridor, opened on April 9, facilitated by the Delhi and Rohtak Police, enabled the ambulance to cover the distance, ensuring that the organ remained viable within the critical time window, the statement said.
According to the statement issued, the organ was retrieved from a 37-year-old brain-dead donor at Pt B D Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, and transported to the Delhi hospital for transplantation.
