Direct tax collections climb 20% to Rs.9.55 lakh crore as of Aug 10
New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- The Centre's gross direct tax collections in 2026-27 up to August 10 jumped nearly 20% on an annualized basis to around Rs.9.55 lakh crore with the net revenue after refunds surged over 23% to Rs.8.11 lakh crore on stronger personal income-tax and securities transaction tax (STT) receipts.
According to government data released on Tuesday, gross direct tax collection in little more than four months of current financial year (April 1-August 10 of FY27) increased 19.75% to Rs.9,54,775.91 crore as compared to Rs.7,97,327.83 crore in the same period of previous fiscal year (FY26).
Net direct tax revenue surged by 23.09% to Rs.8,11,324.51 crore in FY27 (up to August 10) as compared to Rs.6,59,114.03 crore in the same period ...
