Rohtak, April 3 -- The mortal remains of a 30-year-old man from Sonepat, who lost his life in the Russian-Ukraine war, reached his native village Kurar Ibrahimpur in Sonepat on Thursday.

According to his family, they lost contact with Ankit Kumar nearly five months ago. Ankit went to Russia on a study-visa on March 13 last year and died while fighting in the war against Ukraine, they said.

Ankit's family members said he was inducted into the Russian Army on August 26 last year and they spoke to him last time on October 12. His maternal uncle Sanjay Kumar said that they got information from the Russian Embassy two days ago that Ankit was killed in a drone attack in the war against Ukraine.
