India, May 4 -- Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that the Delhi government will soon implement amendments introduced by the Centre to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The move is being executed for a structured mechanism for the settlement of traffic challans, streamline enforcement and improve compliance.
While the timeline for implementation of this system is not yet decided, officials said they plan to roll out the changes soon.
The chief minister said the new system is designed to be fully digital, time-bound and accountable. "This will ensure better compliance with traffic rules and help reduce road accidents," she said.
