India, Aug. 7 -- The Delhi government is working to formulate the Delhi Private Universities Bill for creating a regulatory framework to establish and operate private universities in the national capital, officials said on Thursday, adding that the Bill is likely to be introduced in the Delhi Assembly next week.

The Assembly's Monsoon session is commencing on Friday (August 7), and will last till August 11.

According to officials, the draft Bill was recently discussed in the cabinet.

The proposed legislation is expected to pave the way for private higher education institutions while laying down norms for governance, academic standards, financial accountability and quality assurance, an official said, requesting anonymity.
