Deccan College marks 50 years of Sanskrit dictionary project
India, June 5 -- The Sanskrit dictionary project at the Centre of Indian Knowledge Systems-Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Sanskrit (IKS-EDS), Central Sanskrit University, housed at Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute, marked the golden jubilee of the publication of the first volume of An Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Sanskrit on Historical Principles on June 3.
Published on June 3, 1976, the dictionary has become a landmark reference work in Sanskrit lexicography, supporting research in Sanskrit studies, Indology, textual criticism and IKS. Chancellor professor Bhushan Patwardhan presided as chief guest at the event attended by scholars, faculty members, students, research scholars and retired staff.
