CAG raises concerns over declining capex
New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- The CAG has raised concerns over declining capital expenditure, rising subsidies and poor returns on government investments in Delhi, even as the city's economy grew.
Chief minister Rekha Gupta tabled the CAG's report on state finances for 2024-25 in the Delhi Assembly on Monday.
Delhi's GSDP grew 9.17% to Rs.12.15 lakh crore in 2024-25, while revenue receipts rose 9.57%, driven mainly by higher tax collections, particularly GST. However, non-tax revenue and central grants declined.
The report flagged the rising recurring expenditure. Revenue expenditure increased 88.38% between 2015-16 and 2024-25, while subsidies rose 172.48%, or Rs.3,222 crore, including Rs.2,033 crore in power subsidies.
