Ahmedabad, Oct. 14 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained all three urban local bodies that went to polls on Sunday in Gujarat, winning 38 of 44 seats in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) and netting majorities in Thara and Okha municipalities on Tuesday.
The Congress won five seats in Gandhinagar, while an Independent bagged one. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had won one seat in the last election, failed to open its account. "This massive victory in Gujarat reflects the mood of the voters, showing that the voters of Gujarat and India stand rock-solid with PM Narendra Modi even today," said Union home minister Amit Shah.
