India, Oct. 23 -- Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait staged a sit-in outside the gate of the Ganna Kisan Sansthan (Ganna Bhawan) in Dalibagh on Thursday after finding the institute locked.

The incident took place when Tikait reached the institute ahead of Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat scheduled on Friday. Finding the gate closed, Tikait and his supporters sat on the ground outside the gate itself.

After the protest, the administration started the process of opening the gate, sources said. The gates were opened at around 8pm, said Alok Varma, district president of the BKU.
