Bay low-pressure system to bring heavy rain to Bengal; fishermen warned
India, Aug. 11 -- West Bengal is likely to see another spell of heavy rain as a low-pressure area is expected to develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas on Wednesday, August 12, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The system is likely to strengthen rainfall activity across south Bengal, with several districts expected to receive heavy to very heavy showers over the next few days.
Most parts of south Bengal may receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers on Wednesday. Heavy rainfall of 7 to 11 cm is likely at isolated places in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly and Bankura.
North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur could receive 7 to 20 cm of heavy to very heavy rain.
