India, Oct. 9 -- Mail and express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on October 10 will be cancelled at their originating stations in view of anticipated severe traffic congestion in the areas surrounding the stations, according to people familiar with the matter.

"Severe congestion is expected in Delhi, leading to major disruptions due to blocked roads. To avoid passenger inconvenience, the Railways has taken this tough decision," sources said.

The cancellations will apply to all mail and express trains departing from their originating stations after 2 pm on October 9 and scheduled to arrive at either station between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10.
