India, Oct. 11 -- Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have been placed under preventive arrest under Sections 126 (security for keeping peace) and 170 (arrest to prevent the commission of cognisable offences) of the BNSS, the group's legal head Ratna Singh said.

The CJP leaders were taken into custody from inside a flight after it landed at the Delhi airport on Saturday. They will be produced before the executive magistrate in Delhi Cantonment on Sunday, according to an update shared by Singh.

Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita, a person can be held for up to 24 hours before being presented before a magistrate, unless the detention falls under special laws.
