India, July 15 -- Two people were killed after a fire broke out in a five-story building in Noida's Mamura village in sector 66 on Wednesday, police said.

The fire broke out after sparks were generated while an electric vehicle battery was being charged, which caused nearby petrol-powered vehicles to catch fire, they added.

"On receiving the information, seven fire tenders, a hydraulic platform, the Chief Fire Officer and the local police immediately reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. The fire was completely extinguished," police said in a statement.

An FIR has been filed at the police station against the building owner under the relevant sections of law. The accused has been taken into custody, and further legal proceed...
