Meerut, Oct. 2 -- Two ascetics were allegedly murdered on Thursday and their bodies set on fire inside a temple in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district where they resided, police said, adding that a local man has been detained for questioning following allegations that he wanted them to leave to establish control over the shrine. According to police, the incident took place at a Shiva temple in Sutha village, around 70 km from the district headquarters. Villagers noticed smoke rising from the temple at around 7 am on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Gopal Das, 70, and Bihari Das, 60, police said.
