196 names in Bengal Left Front's first list
Kolkata, March 17 -- The Left Front on Monday announced the coalition's first list of 192 candidates in West Bengal for the upcoming assembly election.
The list names several student and youth front leaders, some veterans and the mother of a girl killed in violence during a by-election in June 2025.
The assembly polls will be held in the state on April 23 and 29, and votes will be counted on May 4.
The state's Left Front chairman Biman Bose announced that Sabina Yasmin will contest the Kaliganj assembly seat in Nadia district for the CPI(M). Her nine-year-old daughter, Tamanna, was killed in a crude bomb blast allegedly during a victory rally at the bypoll counting in June last year, which the Trinamool Congress (TMC) won.
