'Airspace above metro stns to be used for development'
New Delhi, July 13 -- Union housing and urban affairs minister Manohar Lal on Sunday said the government is planning to unlock the airspace above metro stations and corridors for development and has tasked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) with preparing a framework to facilitate such projects.
The minister said the move could help create cost-effective housing integrated with public transport.
Addressing the 172nd foundation day celebrations of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Lal said the government was exploring ways to utilise the airspace above linear projects such as metro corridors.
