India, April 30 -- Research shows that people who take GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, known for helping with weight loss, often regain the weight they lost within 1.5 years after stopping the medication. They returned to their original weight and regained it four times faster than those who relied solely on diet and exercise, noted a peer-reviewed study. The January 2026 study examined 37 studies that followed 9,300 participants using 13 weight-loss medications.

After people stopped using weight-loss drugs, they not only regained the weight but also returned to their original levels of important health markers, such as blood pressure and cholesterol, about 17 months later.
