Piyush Goyal pushes for deeper BRICS Trade, with UPI and local currencies in focus
India, Sept. 11 -- India has called for deeper and more balanced trade among BRICS member and partner countries, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal urging the grouping to open markets, diversify supply chains and simplify regulatory procedures to make cross-border trade easier.
Speaking at the opening session of the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi on September 11, Goyal said BRICS, which accounts for nearly one-fourth of global trade, has significant room to expand economic cooperation.
"Supply chains would be resilient when they run both ways," Goyal said, calling on BRICS countries to open their markets to each other's products, including raw materials and critical minerals.
