India, July 29 -- Micron, US memory maker, has selected L&T to build phase two of its $2.75 billion semiconductor plant in Sanand, Gujarat.

This comes after operational delays and friction with Tata Projects, the contractor that built phase 1.

Delays led to creation of friction for Tata Projects, pushing Micron to look elsewhere for phase two of the project. L&T was always a top pick. It has now bagged the contract.

Singapore's Meinhardt, which worked on phase one, will stay on to design phase two. Turner International is expected to handle the project consultancy.
