India, Sept. 18 -- India's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat significantly focuses on semiconductor sector with the objective building a self-reliant and globally competitive ecosystem. Achieving this vision requires the development of capabilities in end-to-end semiconductor value chain.

The ecosystem and capabilities must evolve beyond assembly and manufacturing operations to encompass research and development (R&D), chip design, intellectual property (IP) creation, semiconductor equipment manufacturing, materials and specialty chemicals. Among these, the most challenging and strategically important areas are R&D and IP creation, which ultimately determine a country's position in the global semiconductor value chain.
