India, Aug. 25 -- India's semiconductor push is opening up far more than chip fabrication. As the investment moves into components and electronics manufacturing, the country is building a deeper and better-connected manufacturing base. For those of us who make electronics here, that shift matters. It changes how products get sourced, assembled, tested and scaled.

What's taking shape is essentially a chain reaction, and manufacturers have the most to gain from it. The catch is that those gains only arrive if India manages to link every layer of the value chain together.
