Google and Blackstone launch USD 5 billion TPU cloud venture for AI compute
India, May 21 -- Google and Blackstone have announced a USD 5 billion artificial intelligence (AI) cloud venture built around Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), signalling intensifying competition in the global AI infrastructure market.
The new US-based company will offer data-centre capacity, operations, networking, and Google Cloud TPUs as a compute-as-a-service offering. Blackstone will make an initial USD 5 billion equity commitment, while Google will supply hardware, including TPUs, along with software and services.
