India, May 28 -- A few days back former Google CEO Eric Schmidt was met with a collective boo when he gave the commencement speech to the graduating class at the University of Arizona. Only because he uttered a line - "The question is whether you will have shaped artificial intelligence". Not far away the students at the University of Central Florida gave the same disapproval jeer to Gloria Caulfield for calling AI "the next industrial revolution."

If it looks like the Youth is not exactly excited about AI, the reasons are not hard to dig out. Displacement, job layoffs, unemployment through obsolescence, irrelevance and so on- the fears ignited by AI are not a teenage reaction anymore. Fears which find their echo in some numbers too.
