India, July 31 -- Enterprise adoption of autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agents is accelerating, but so are concerns about how these systems should be governed. Unlike conventional AI assistants, autonomous agents can retrieve information, interact with enterprise applications and execute tasks with limited human intervention, prompting organisations to rethink cybersecurity strategies alongside AI adoption.

Research firm Gartner predicts that 33% of enterprise software applications will include agentic AI by 2028, compared with less than 1% in 2024. It also forecasts that 15% of day-to-day work decisions will be made autonomously through agentic AI by 2028, signalling a significant shift in how enterprises use AI.
