AI speeds defense against attacks, but governance lags, Cisco survey finds
India, Oct. 2 -- According to Cisco's survey of 8,000 security professionals, 91% experienced at least one disruptive incident in the past year, and 35% said one involved an attack tied to AI. Cisco's analysis classifies just 8% of respondents as "Relentless Defenders," the group it says has the coverage, speed and organizational alignment to keep pace with AI-driven threats. The average organization scored 64 out of 100.
The findings appear in "Relentless Defense," a report Cisco published on cybersecurity in the AI era. The survey ran in April and May 2026 across 30 markets, and 27% of respondents were chief information security officers.
